Professor Niamh Martin

Biography
Professor Niamh Martin is an honorary consultant in diabetes and endocrinology and honorary consultant physician at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where she leads the Imperial multidisciplinary pituitary service.
She graduated with distinction from Liverpool University Medical School and undertook her specialty training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in North West Thames. During her training, Niamh was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship to complete her PhD at Imperial College London.
On completion of her postgraduate training, Niamh secured an NIHR Clinical Senior Lecturer Award to develop her career as a clinical academic.
Niamh has a strong commitment to education. At Imperial College London, she is Head of Year 1 for the BSc Medical Biosciences course and leads endocrinology teaching for the first two years of the MBBS BSc course. She has received the Imperial College President’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the Society for Endocrinology Teaching Achievement award. She works closely with The Society for Endocrinology in many roles, including Chair of the Public Engagement Committee and with The Pituitary Foundation to develop and support education around endocrinology, particularly pituitary disease, for both healthcare professionals and patients.
