Miss Claire Young
NCIC Trust MBBS Programme Lead for PCSM
Biography
Claire has worked as a Consultant in North Cumbria for 20 years. She graduated in Medicine from Glasgow University and following house jobs in Scotland returned to her native North East for basic surgical training and then specialist training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery.
Following specialist fellowship training, post CCST, in London, Ontario, Canada Claire took up her post in North Cumbria with a specialist interest in hip and knee arthroplasty.
Claire has held leadership roles within medical education having previously been the Foundation Programme Tutor and Associate Director of Medical Education for Foundation training in the Trust. She has also been involved in education for various other members of the healthcare team.
Claire is the Programme Lead for Pears Cumbria School of Medicine at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS FT, planning and overseeing the clinical secondary care placements within the Trust.
Outside of medicine Claire is a keen cyclist, not only through the quiet back roads of Cumbria but also on epic adventures across France, Italy and most recently Colombia.
