Biography

Born in Carlisle, Ellie attended Caldew School before studying English Literature at the University of Leeds and Museum Studies at the University of Glasgow. Since graduating in 2018, Ellie has worked in several administrative roles for North Cumbria Integrated Care. In her role as Timetabling Officer at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, Ellie brings her administrative experience combined with a knowledge of local health-care provision across the county.

Ellie’s experience of growing up and entering the workforce as a disabled person continues to inspire her work as an advocate. In recent years, Ellie has worked within the third sector to advocate for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. In 2023, Ellie set up a charity to support patients like herself to access life-changing treatment. Running the charity has given Ellie opportunities to speak at international conferences, host online discussions, and take part in key deliberations with NHS England about policy change.
