Dr Benny Gilhooley

Biography

Benny obtained his medical degree from the National University of Ireland,Galway in the Republic of Ireland in 1996. He qualified as a G.P. completing his R.C.G.P. exams in the U.K. in 2003.

Benny has worked as a G.P. in Cumbria since 2003. He currently works 3 days a week at Warwick Square Medical Practice in Carlisle where he does a mixture of clinical and educational roles.

Benny has a long standing interest in both Undergraduate and Post Graduate education .

 

Post Graduate Education

Benny has worked as a G.P. trainer since 2005 after which he completed a Certificate in Post Graduate Education from Northumberland University.

Benny is also currently a mentor for intending G.P. trainers and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Primary Care.

He has also extensive experience in mentoring Foundation Training Doctors in Primary Care.

 

Undergraduate Education

Benny has extensive experience in teaching medical students and Physician Associate students from other local Universities.

Benny currently works one day a week for PCSM in the Primary Care Team combining the role of Primary Care Placements Officer with curriculum development in primary care.
