Biography

Anthony was born in Carlisle, in the former maternity hospital on the UoC Fusehill Street campus, and grew up in Cumbria. He obtained a degree in Anatomical Sciences from Manchester University where he developed an interest in medical education, before studying medicine at Newcastle University and graduating in 2015. He undertook foundation training in Middlesbrough as part of an academic foundation programme in medical education with Newcastle University, then moved into a full-time clinical teaching role at the University before returning to Teesside for GP training in 2018. He completed GP training in 2023 alongside an academic clinical fellowship in medical education, and now works as a salaried GP.

At PCSM Anthony is the curriculum development lead for the first two years of the clinical skills and professional practice module. He is excited to draw on experience of teaching and learning in clinical environments, as both a clinician and educationalist, to provide meaningful experiences of learning how to be a doctor.

Academically, he maintains an interest in the wide range of aspects of medical education, and particularly in undergraduate GP teaching and learning. He is proud to be able to return to his native county to help develop the PCSM degree programme, both for the students of PCSM, and for the benefit of the people of Cumbria.
