Michelle Dinsdale MBChB, FRCOphth, FHEA, is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at North Cumbria Integrated NHS Hospital Trust. Michelle trained in Merseyside and Manchester and moved to North Cumbria to live and work in a rural setting. Her subspecialty within Ophthalmology is glaucoma.
Her other main passion is education, and has previously worked in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as education for non-medical health professionals. She has previously worked at the University of Liverpool.
Michelle has been actively involved in research within Ophthalmology, with publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented at International meetings. She has supervised undergraduate medical students with both audits and research.
Michelle’s role at Pears Cumbria Medical School is the Speciality surgical lead (including Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular and ENT). She is also the lead for the Team Based Learning (TBL) cases, which brings clinical context in the early years.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys running and cycling up the fells and swimming in the lakes of the beautiful Lake District National Park.
