Dr Gopika Sreejith

Gopika is a doctor and Clinical Teaching Fellow in General Surgery and Breast Surgery at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to undergraduate medical education at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. She obtained her medical degree from Queen’s University Belfast before completing her Foundation Training and subsequently undertaking Trust Grade core-level training in General Surgery, with experience across Vascular, Colorectal and Emergency General Surgery. She has completed Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) training.

She is passionate about teaching and surgical education and has been actively involved in undergraduate medical education throughout her training. Her experience includes bedside and case-based teaching, mentoring medical students, and delivering practical surgical skills teaching including suturing, knot-tying and ultrasound-guided cannulation. She has also helped develop and deliver OSCE teaching and has completed formal training in medical education through a Teach the Teacher course. Alongside her clinical and educational work, she has contributed to research, quality improvement and national academic presentations. She hopes to combine a career in surgery with an ongoing role in medical and surgical education.
