Biography

Paul is a Consultant Stroke Physician at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in Carlisle. He graduated from the University of Wales College Cardiff in 1987 and completed specialist training in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in Newcastle and Carlisle.

He was awarded an MD for research in Snoring, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, and Stroke by Newcastle University in 2001. He was appointed to his consultant post in 1999. Paul has led the development of Stroke Services in North Cumbria; in addition, he has been the clinical lead for the Cumbria and Lancashire Stroke Network and helped develop the Regional Telestroke Network.

Alongside his clinical work this he is a Medical Examiner and has taken on a new role as a Professional Development Tutor at Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.
