Biography

Trish Brown is an experienced senior manager in medical education and currently working across a number of projects for the Education Partnerships Office in the Faculty of Medicine which involves strategic planning, governance development, and operational implementation, with a focus on aligning institutional structures with national regulatory standards and academic priorities.
For the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, Trish leads on the development and operationalisation of the Quality Assurance Framework and the Raising Concerns policy. Prior to this, Trish is a former Head of Operations for PCSM and joined Imperial College in 2019 as the Head of the School of Medicine Secretariat at Imperial, where she was responsible for quality assurance processes, regulatory compliance, and liaison with the General Medical Council (GMC).
Trish has held senior roles across a range of medical and educational institutions, including Director of Operations at Queen Mary University of London’s Malta campus, where she oversaw the operational setup of a new School of Medicine. She also worked at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, managing postgraduate surgical training programmes and collaborating with international partners on curriculum delivery and evaluation.
Her academic background includes a Master of Education (MEd) with Distinction from Imperial College London, where her research focused on medical student learning in clinical environments, particularly the development of procedural skills and the role of clinical faculty. Her interests include the understanding the role of communities of practice in supporting student learning and professional development during clinical placements. Trish’s earlier career includes roles in further education, scientific research, and curriculum management. She has also contributed to institutional equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives and has experience in stakeholder engagement, project management, and governance in both UK and international contexts.
She is holds an IOSH certification and is co-author of a chapter on safety management in medical education, published in Challenges for Health & Safety in Higher Education & Research Institutions (Royal Society of Chemistry, 2020), and is a trained Mental Health First Aider.
